Prakirti Lakhotiya

I'm a software engineer who builds backend systems for a living, and chases light, sound and stars for joy. Curiosity is the thread through all of it.

Made of stardust and code — I believe everything is connected.

01 Profile

Who I am

I get curious understanding animal behaviour (more fascinating than Netflix), chase the beauty of nature through a lens, and design immersive EDM soundscapes. Each project is a story — where technology meets curiosity.

About me

I'm a software engineer who builds backend systems for a living and chases light, sound, and stars for joy.

Curiosity is the thread through all of it — I'd rather understand how something works than simply use it.

Nature & temperament

Calm, introverted, and thoughtful. I do my best work in long, quiet stretches of focus.

I value kindness, honesty, and clear communication, and prefer gentle problem-solving over confrontation.

How I work

Direct, sincere, and open — I say what I mean and appreciate the same in return.

I care about craft: systems that hold up, frames that feel right, and mixes that land.

02 Practice

What I do

Four disciplines that keep teaching each other. The engineering sharpens the art; the art keeps the engineering honest.

Backend engineering

  • Designing services, APIs, and data flows that stay reliable under real load
  • Clean architecture, sensible abstractions, code the next person can read
  • Debugging is my favourite part — the puzzle matters more than the fix

Visual storytelling

  • Cinematography and lighting, studying how a frame carries emotion
  • Astrophotography — long nights, longer exposures, a very patient tripod
  • Colour and composition as a language of their own

Sound & music

  • Producing EDM and immersive soundscapes, first idea to final master
  • Learning flute, guitar, and piano, with Indian classical as the long goal
  • Sound design as engineering by another name — structure, layers, iteration

Always learning

  • Animal behaviour, astronomy, and anything that rewards close observation
  • Comfortable with solitude, which is where the deep dives happen
  • Every new skill feeds back into the others in ways I never expect

04 Pursuits

Where I feel most myself

These aren't just hobbies. They need real time and space to breathe, and protecting that space is something I've learned to take seriously.

EDM Production

Melodies that express what words can't, built from complex technical craft.

Cinematography

Studying how visual elements create emotional impact and narrative depth.

Astrophotography

Finding peace under the night sky. I'll take stargazing over party culture.

Musical Journey

Flute, guitar and piano — each instrument teaching me patience in its own way.

Animal Behaviour

Observing nature keeps me grounded and curious about the world.

Continuous Learning

Introverted and comfortable alone, which leaves room to dive deep.

05 Field notes

What gets me going

A hard bug that finally gives up its secret at 2 a.m.

A clear night, a dark sky, and a camera pointed somewhere very far away.

The moment a track's drop finally sits right in the mix.

Light doing something unexpected, and having the lens ready for it.

Watching an animal do something that makes no sense until it suddenly does.

Learning a new instrument badly, then slightly less badly.

Deep conversations that wander somewhere neither person expected.

Long, uninterrupted hours to build something properly.

Choose substance over spectacle. Build kindness quietly. Stay curious about everything.

06 In short

The whole of it

Engineer by trade
Backend systems, clean architecture, and the satisfaction of things that just work.
Artist by instinct
Cameras, night skies, and synthesizers are how I think when code isn't the right language.
Curious by default
I chase questions well past the point of usefulness, and that's usually where the good stuff is.
Quiet by nature
Introverted, comfortable in solitude, and most creative in the calm.
Always building
A service, a shot, a soundscape — there's always something in progress.

07 Elsewhere

Say hello

Always happy to talk shop — distributed systems, shutter speeds, or synth patches.
